Missed a couple updates because we were hanging out with Elise in the ICU. More on that in a sec. Margot was taken to surgery at around 12:30 this afternoon. At 1:15 or so, we heard the team had made the first incision and by 2:00, they had her on the heart/lung bypass machine. So, this is the critical time for Margot. I just saw the anesthesiologist in the hallway (there are two of them so one can take a break!), and he said they were underway and things were progressing. We'll have an update on her condition in hopefully less than an hour.
As for Elise, she is in the ICU and looks good. She has good color and is sustaining good pressures and heart rates without assistance. She is on the respirator and will be at least until tomorrow. Everyone is quite pleased with her health at the current time. It sounds like there might have been some complexity with her valve reconstruction, but that the results indicate a good repair.
We're very excited about Elise, but still increadibly nervous overall, especially for little Margot. We'll probably know within the next hour how things are going to turn out.
More when we know it.
