The girls continue to do well and may be sent home as soon as Sat. A few more lines have been removed. Elise is off of oxygen and Margot is almost there. Both girls had their jugular IVs removed and let out a good healthy wail as it happened. Tate and I were just marveling over lunch that those cries were the loudest, longest, healthiest cries we've ever heard from them. No one turned purple, only nice and pink and when it was all said and done instead of falling off into a sound sleep, they both ate a healthy 3 oz of fortifed breast milk in less than 20 minutes! Their hearts ARE FIXED and we couldn't be happier!!!
Now it's back upstairs to learn how to bath them during recovery and then a breast feeding consult. I am hoping to successfully breastfeed as soon as the girls are ready.
